LOCATION:
Oshakati, Oshana Region
PROJECT STATUS:
Unbuilt
CLIENT:
Oshakati Premier Electric
Challenged by the client’s insistence a glazed south-west façade facing the street, the design proposes a layering of perforated metal screens over a glass and brick external skin, above a recessed podium. The ground level public foyer and customer care facilities are thus set back several metres and screened by vegetation along the podium and the street edge. The triple storey interior is vertically punctured by an offset atrium and a sculptural staircase to visually connect the different levels.
Similar to the west façade, the north-east face is layered in screens to modify the solar impact. Brick cavity walls, over-sized overhangs and insulation further serves to modify the interior climate.
