Originally old police housing and offices expanded and converted into new two-court facility with complex arrangements for securing accused prisoners while sheltering vulnerable witnesses. Soaring floating roofs bring in high-level daylighting to keep interiors bright and create welcoming aspect to what is often seen as a hostile environment by the public. A series of pleasant courtyards between buildings create various levels of security needed and avoid undesirable encounters between witnesses and accused.
