Village concept of three houses for orphaned & vulnerable children referred to care, clustered around interior gardens, playground and verandas, with small administrative building also containing after-school activities & community social space. Original vegetation and site slopes preserved, so that split-level planning integrates bedroom passage with open kitchen-dining-living. This reduces scale of 8 to 12-child household to smaller, more intimate environment. Custom designed furniture to create sense of fun and maximise space use.
Layers of privacy for foster parent accommodation enhanced by intermediate dual-purpose room which can house relief staff or visiting parents, while acting as counselling or withdrawal space for children if required.
